I have been listening to this band since I found their two-songed demo on their myspace (which was like a year and a half ago) and I immediately fell in love with it. I was so in love that I even wanted to buy the Self Titled Ep on their bigcartel, but sadly I didn't have a paypal acount, so I kinda set that idea aside. But half a year ago I decided to finally make such an acount and buy the goddamn Ep and I can honestly say it's one of my greatest decisions I made in my entire life.
The seven-songed Ep starts with immediate fire in the veins when the vocalist Mark Dolling (such a good guy) screams passionate, yet filled with anger, the words: 'Watch The Hero Fall'. I remember hearing this for the first time and I thought to myself; 'What an unusual, yet brilliant way to start an Ep.'. I kinda had a 'We are here to destroy the world'-feeling (Killing The Dream - Blame The Architects). This song perfectly describes how the six other songs will sound like; music with its fast and agressive parts, followed by amazing and well worked-out melodic hardcore parts (you know, those high noted goosebump giving guitar parts, in which they definitely are very talented) and add to this list one of the best vocals I heard in a long while. You can hear the anger and pissed-off feelings in Mark's voice, but you can also hear his emotion and passion in what he's doing. And by finding the perfect balance between this, he just found the perfect vocals (you'll prefectly understandwhat I'm talking about when you'll listen to the song Maybe). Another reason why he's so good in what he's doing is the fact that his vocals perfectly express the way he feels and the way he portrayed himself in his lyrics, which are simply amazing. Another fun fact to know is that on the song A Plea From The Lost Carpathian's (RIP) bassist features a guest vocal. If I would have to choose a favourite song, I would take Forgotten Souls, after hours of doubting, because every song has its qualities. First off all because of the amazing lead guitar at the end of the song (3:38). It is such an amazing riff, that just prooves again that these guys are capable of doing great things, which I definitely see them doing in the future. Another reason is just because I have a good feeling while listening to this song, the protest-feeling combined with anger is a fuckin' adrenaline-boost.
Another reason why I love these guys even more is because of the fact they don't lose any passion or emotion at all when they're playing live. I never saw them live before, so this may sound kinda strange, but the reason why I know there so tight live is thanks to Mark, who sent me a live recording of a new song (which will probably be called Directionless) and it is soooo insanely good. If you want to check it out you can find it here, which I strongly advise you, because trust me, once you get the 'Our Solace-fever' a seven-songed Ep isn't enough at all!
Okay, listen carefully now; Go buy something! They're a young and hard-working band and they need every form of support. So go like them on facebook, buy their cd on bandcamp, buy a hard copy, buy one of their awesome shirts and show them some love, just like they will do to you.
