You may or may not have gotten into this band with their previous "Alone" EP, and if you had, you know this band delivers. Really, really good melodic hardcore with ambient tendencies, and be warned that this EP has a lot of singing on it. But don't let that discourage you from giving these three songs a listen because they're excellent.

Transient - Alone (2011)

Genre : Melodic Hardcore

It’s been a long time since I took the time to make a post which I can only blame on a combination of lack of time and utter and complete laziness. My apologies. However, in the meantime I did have the time to stack up on some great band discoveries. Transient is a South Carolina based hardcore band, spirit-filled (as they claim themselves but the music speaks for itself) and SUPER melodic. Strong vocals from a very literate singer, the lyrics are both personal yet you instantly know what he’s talking about. He seems to cycle between different kinds of vocals as well (awesome cleans too btw) which gives it this great twist. The intro “Worthless” starts off quietly yet intense and then builds up and shows what this band is capable of. This sets the mood for the rest of the ep plus makes you excited for it. The second song however, “Broken”, is the one I really fell in love with. With an opening you can expect from a band like It Prevails and vocals that are just pure gold, it’s a no-brainer. The rest of the ep is just as tight, the songs contain a lot of variation and the thing is over before you know it. It just leaves you hanging with that hunger for more.
EDIT: Download is now through mediafire because apparently the band ran out of free download credits on their bandcamp. I still suggest buying it though, same price as a pack of smokes and believe me, it’ll last longer.
