Relapse Records: 25 Years of Contamination Comp (2015)

Genre: Metal of all shapes and sizes

Buy here / Download

The sampler is a 'name your price' option on bandcamp, so you can get this all completely free and bandcamp has the same file transfer rate as zippyshare so you're good. I highly recommend 5 or 10 bucks for this. Relapse records puts out some consistently amazing music, it's a friendly nod to the guys who put together this kind of comp. I paid $6.66 so that I could say that here in this post all smugly.

Holy shit though, this is one hell of a compilation. This is 184 tracks of some of the most influential metal that's been put out. A lot of this stuff is what really got me into metal when I was younger, any self respecting hardcore or metal kid is gonna need to give this a listen, so do yourself a favor and check it out, I already did you the favor of formatting the tracklist. You literally have no excuse.

Caravan - Chaos Is Ours (2014)

Facebook  / Bandcamp

Genre: Chaotic Hardcore

Buy here

Download / Bandcamp

"Combining chaos and emotion fueled melodic hooks, Caravan is a force to be reckoned with. Their first release, Chaos is Ours, gives you a taste of what they're capable of.

Kicking it off with 'Vow', the band makes a bold statement. Take an agressive intro, combine it with some groove, soothe the pain with some melody and top it off with a sludgy outro.

Next up is Young and Forgotten. This track combines two tracks: an elevating melodic part, smashed to smithereens by it's chaotic brother The End. This shift between the two personalities of Caravan keeps the music from getting boring.

In Dahlia, the band leaves alone the chaos. This emotional serenade is a welcome resting point throughout the EP.

No Sleep shows band hasn’t forsaken its roots. This straight-on hardcoretrack, obligatory breakdown included, keeps the EP going with its relentless speed. Nonetheless, the band never fails to make it its own.

Chaos is Ours is without a doubt Caravans strongest track off of this release. In this song Caravan shows their true identity. Hard-hitting, groovy, chaotic and schizophrenic: they’ve kept the best for last.
Schizophrenia never sounded better."

I feel the same way, get into this.

Flood Hardcore: All releases (Continents. , GTTRS, The Homeless, Crows-An-Wra, Midnight Souls, The Cold Harbour)

Flood Floorshows/Hardcore is one of the most promising and genuine labels we have here in Belgium. So when they gave me the green light to post their releases I was beyond stoked. So please check out these bands and their music, Flood has an eye for passionate hardcore and I know most of the people visiting this blog do to. Let's get to it!

They have some other sweet releases on their Bandcamp page (http://floodhc.bandcamp.com/) too. Go and support this awesome label any way you can, and maybe just start by liking them on Facebook and being kept up to date with all the cool things they do. Voila, FACEBOOK

FLOOD01: Continents. - ...And Silence Anchored Our Feet In Granite

Facebook

Genre : Screamo / Melodic

I loved Contintents. since the very beginning of this band and everyone who has been following the blog over the years knows this. When their debut EP came out I was playing this thing all the damn time. Anyway, this is their second release and it pretty much picks up right where the previous thing stopped. Emotive and heartfelt screamo, but they stepped things up a notch, anyway if you're into the genre this is pretty flawless.

FLOOD02: GTTRS - Sunlit World

Genre : Dark (Metallic) Hardcore / Sludge

GTTRS were a dark hardcore band from Antwerp, who managed to get quite some recognition in their short lived time as a band. They find a mix between dragging, heavy and dark riffs and a touch of melody, which is a pretty working combination. Anyway, they disbanded a while ago and they are all working on some new music. Some of them formed Caravan, their EP will be posted some time soon.

FLOOD03: The Homeless - In Loving Memory Of What Could Have Been

Genre: Melodic Hardcore / Screamo / Emo

The Homeless, hailing from Hamme, play a very emotive kind of hardcore / screamo that'll hit you right in the guts with their powerful lyrics. To me they sound like a kind of old school More Than Life, but that's for you to decide. This is their first full length, and it's something a fan of honest and heartfelt music can't pass by. They're touring quite a bit in the near future so if you see their name on a poster somewhere near you, go out and take a look.

FLOOD04: Crows-An-Wra - s/t

Genre: Skramz Screamo

You all remember Crocus right ? And Ravachol ? Both were some damn kick ass bands from a few years ago, if you had no idea then go and check that out since they're pretty amazing. Anyway, what we have here is a best of both worlds thing, members of the previously mentioned bands came together to form Crows-An-Wra and some sweet music. The genre description says it all, it's 5 tracks of original and refreshing stuff.

FLOOD05: Midnight Souls - Always

Genre: Melodic Hardcore

I certainly hope these guys don't need any introduction. They were one of the nicest and most passionate melodic hardcore bands that ever came out of Belgium. Here we have their last track ever recorded, and man, did they go out with a bang.

FLOOD06: Continents.- In Streams Of Light Doth Linger

Genre: Screamo / Melodic Hardcore

I've said it before and I'll say it again, this band continues to blow my mind. This three track EP manages to be their best yet, and I found their demo EP to be flawless. They keep on killing it with sweet melodies that mange to be haunting at the same time, great lyricism (!) and just a strong and coherent overall vibe.

FLOOD07: The Cold Harbour - Seasons

Genre : Emotive Hardcore

Everyone who has been on this blog or just listenend / showed interest in the melodic branch of hardcore in general should know about this band. Ever since their debut release they have been pretty much flawless. They're almost always on the road too so there really is not a single excuse you can give me as to why you don't know all about these dudes already. So, I mentioned them being pretty much flawless on their debut, well, on their latest release called "Season" they just are. Really, I can't give any complaints other than it's only four songs long and they had me wanting more.

GTTRS - Sunlit World EP (2012)

Facebook

Genre: Hardcore

Buy here (Bandcamp)

"Gttrs are four young dudes making desperate, passionate and in your face darkish hardcore. These five songs lay the foundation for what they're capable of, since the new songs take those and use them to go a more furious and "kick-in-your-face" path (but you'll have to wait a bit longer to hear those since they aren't released yet). Anyway, this is a band I'd like you to keep an eye on; they manage to find a balance between dark and heavy and then all of a sudden beautiful melodies are incorporated out of the blue, but this works. This EP shows the potential these guys have, so keep your eye open for new work (hopefully soon) and in the meantime listen to this to hold you over. I feel like if you're into bands like Grieved and Runes for example you'll like this too."

Full Of Hell / Calm The Fire - Split EP (2012)

Facebook Full Of Hell

Genre: Hardcore / Punk

I have no idea how the guys from Elementary Revolt got this, but hey, they have it so that's most important right. "Full Of Hell take a more thrash/powerviolence approach this time out with two out of three of their songs lasting no more than forty seconds.  Full Of Hell give nods to bands such as Lack Of Interest, Weekend Nachos, and Iron Lung with these three songs.  The band's trademark experimentation with electronic/noise is still here as well.  Calm The Fire's three songs are equally as impressive as well.  Calm The Fire offer up three songs of blackened, metallic, and crust flavored hardcore influenced by bands such as Cursed, Integrity, From Ashes Rise, and The Holy Mountain.  Killer 7", to say the least.  Highly recommended!  Enjoy!"

The term Dark Hardcore seems kind of silly but I see a lot of things like this labeled that so I figured I'd use it more often for things that fit. I've been on a kick for this kind of music recently with bands like Full of Hell, Nails and Heartless and this is pretty much the same formula. Enjoy.

Band submission, these dudes are from Greece and play some raging (dark) hardcore. They change their more down tempo parts up with faster and more aggresive moments, and it all works pretty well for them. They have this fun, dragging sound that'll have you headnodding along quite instantly, maybe it's those Black Metal influences they mentioned. Anyway, this is a cool release by a band that has a lot of potential, a small remark might be that I sometimes don't get the agressiveness that I expected when they changed the tempo, but that might just be me.

Hang The Bastard / Brotherhood Of The Lake - Split EP (2011)

Any Hang The Bastard does is awesome to me so I was anticipating this split quite a lot. Offering was leaked before this came out and that one was a banger, and it assured me HTB were gonna rip this like they always do. I proved to be right, Crossjoint is one hell of a track : a slow; down tempo track that steadily build up to a climax that has you wanted to just march through your house and trash everything. Brotherhood Of The Lake is a band i'm not familiar with, they had this split with bastions which I liked but besides that they're fairly new to me. They manage to surprise me quite a bit, i'm not really sure how i feel abou them yet but they make some pretty heavy music and I think it might grow on me. Anyway, great split - you need this in you life instantly. Thanks to Morgan for sharing the link!

Goldust / Juggernaut - Split EP (2011)

Facebook Goldust

Genre: Hardcore / Dark Hardcore

Download (link from Toxicbreeds Funhouse)

I have to admit I never heard of Juggernaut before this split (apparently they released a demo in 2009) so Goldust  was the band that got me to check this out (and the awesome artwork). Juggernaut gets to kick this split off with three tracks of furious hardcore topped with solos, awesome riffing, good vocals and shitloads of energy. After on track they already convinced me these guys are one hell of a band to watch! They take the slower approach on their second track/interlude and go for some spheric melodies to top it and it all works out great but as it turns out it's just a sick of a build up to their final track where they go all out and produce a  masterpiece of a dark'ish heavy hardcore track! Now on to Goldust, they take the build up approach too on their first track which isn't a bad thing at all because it's something I always kind of love and thise one has this "marching" feel (at least that's how i feel about it) to it. But the thing that made me actually post this is isn't all of the previous greatness but their track "worldgaeze", man, this track is just incredibly fantastic. It has been on repeat for the past week and I'm not even close to tired of it, they got these awesome "screechy" guitars in there combined with the vocals and the tension-creating drums and all. Man i love this track and just this split as a whole, a must have!

Damn these dudes made some major progress since the last time i gave them a listen, this is quite fantastic actually. Thanks a lot to Perception Through Dissonance for the link by the way.
